DAP Youth (DAPSY) has strongly rejected any attempts to form a “backdoor government” at any level, calling such efforts a violation of democratic principles.
In a statement, DAPSY said the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership should urgently review all forms of cooperation with parties that act against the spirit of the unity government, particularly if there are signs of moves that could undermine stability and the mandate given by voters.
The youth wing also condemned any negotiations or political manoeuvres aimed at forming a government outside the electoral mandate, including the involvement of political parties or individuals engaged in such efforts.
“These actions not only damage democracy but also promote a political culture that prioritises power over the people’s interest,” it said.
DAPSY stressed that any attempt to form a government through post-election realignment without returning to the electorate contradicts the mandate given by voters, particularly in states such as Negri Sembilan, Penang and Selangor, which contested elections on the basis of a unity government framework.
“The mandate given by voters was for stability and cooperation presented during the election, not for new arrangements formed behind closed doors afterwards,” it said.
Negeri Sembilan political crisis

DAPSY’s statement comes amid the political turmoil in Negri Sembilan following a breakdown in support for the state government led by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.
The situation was triggered after Negri Sembilan Umno’s 14 state assemblymen withdrew their support for the PKR leader, citing a loss of confidence amid an ongoing crisis involving the state’s royal institution.
This has since opened discussions involving BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) representatives about possible realignment to form a new state administration without a fresh election.
PH, which currently leads the state government, has maintained that its administration remains legitimate based on the electoral mandate and has rejected any attempt to form what it describes as a “backdoor government”.
The situation is further complicated by ongoing political and institutional sensitivities in the state, which have added to uncertainty over governance stability.
DAPSY added that if certain parties persist in attempting to destabilise the unity government, PH-led state administrations should consider taking firm action, including reviewing or ending cooperation at all levels.
The youth wing also called on Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to intervene responsibly to help defuse the situation, saying that silence would only fuel speculation and deepen political uncertainty.
“A crisis of confidence cannot be addressed through silence or by allowing speculation to continue unchecked,” it said.
DAPSY warned that political instability comes at a time when the country is facing broader challenges, including global energy uncertainty, and stressed that governance must remain focused on solutions rather than power struggles.
“Any action that undermines political stability is a betrayal of the people’s interests,” it said.
It also urged voters to reject politicians who attempt to form governments without an electoral mandate, saying that ultimate political power lies with the people. ‒ Focus Malaysia
