Police yesterday confirmed that he was the same person involved in a previous case in Johor, in which his wife went into a coma after she was assaulted.

State police chief Adzli Abu Shah said Rosmaini Abd Raof, 43, who was arrested in Alor Setar today, will be brought to the Sungai Petani courthouse tomorrow for a remand order.
“The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code (for voluntarily causing grievous hurt). A press conference on the arrest will be held tomorrow at the Kedah police headquarters,” Bernama quoted him as saying.
Yesterday, Kuala Muda police chief Hanyan Ramlan confirmed that the man was the same person involved in a previous case in Johor, in which his wife went into a coma after she was assaulted.
Hanyan said the 39-year-old woman, a civil servant, is receiving treatment at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for multiple injuries.
In 2021, Rosmaini was accused of assaulting his wife, Jahidah Nordin, who was also pregnant at the time, at an apartment in Larkin, Johor, resulting in severe injuries, including a brain haemorrhage that required part of her skull to be removed, as well as fractures to her jaw, spine and ribs.
Now aged 48, Jahidah remains bedridden, although she safely delivered a baby boy in November 2021.
On Nov 4 last year, the Johor Bahru High Court upheld a 10-year prison sentence against Rosmaini for causing grievous harm to Jahidah.
Rosmaini’s lawyer later applied for a stay of execution of the prison sentence pending the filing of an appeal to the Court of Appeal, which the court granted. - FMT
