A shrine with Jawi inscriptions of the words “Allah” and “Bismillahirrahmanirrahim” in Jasin, Malacca, was demolished this morning.
MalaysiaGazette reported that a state government agency deployed an excavator to Pantai Siring, where a group of anglers yesterday discovered the structure built illegally on state land.
The demolition process took place at 10am today, and ended after about 30 minutes.
Serkam assemblyperson Zaidi Attan said the demolition included the proper removal of religious items from the shrine.
“This matter was decided following discussions between representatives of the landowner, the structure owner, and the relevant agencies yesterday.
“We can confirm that all worship materials were removed by the parties themselves, allowing the enforcement process to proceed.

“The removal of the items was crucial to respect the sensitivities of all religious followers before the site was cleared,” Zaidi said, as quoted by Bernama.
Police have arrested a 39-year-old man for investigation.
Yesterday, Malacca state executive councillor for education, higher education, and religious affairs, Rahmad Mariman, said an inspection found the shrine situated within a mangrove forest near the coast, adjacent to a parcel of privately owned, fenced land.
Checks indicated that the structure may have been in place for two to three years, although the Jawi inscriptions were only noticed on the day the report was made.
Rahmad added that immediate discussions had been convened with several parties, including the Malacca Islamic Religious Department (Jaim), police, and the Village Development and Security Committee.
He had said Jaim and the police will undertake further investigations to identify those responsible.
