PETALING JAYA:
A widespread service disruption affecting CelcomDigi has triggered a wave of frustration among users, with many taking to social media to complain about the sudden loss of mobile data, network coverage, and interruptions to daily transactions and communication.

Users reported being unable to access mobile data, send text messages, use navigation apps, or complete digital payments, with some saying they were caught off guard while at work, travelling, or making digital purchases.

Several netizens said the disruption left them stranded in inconvenient situations, including at petrol stations, restaurants, shopping outlets and public transport hubs where cashless payments and QR transactions could not be completed.

Some users also claimed they initially thought their phones were faulty, only to later realise the outage was network-wide.

Others expressed anger over the timing of the disruption, saying it affected important activities such as work meetings, ride-hailing services and even family communication.

There were also sarcastic and humorous remarks circulating online, with some users joking about switching providers.

Users were also frustrated as they claimed they did not get any prior notice from the company, with many questioning why maintenance or technical issues were not communicated in advance while others demanded rebates or compensation.

A number of users also urged the company to improve transparency, saying customers should be notified early about any maintenance or outages to avoid inconvenience.

Some called on the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to look into the service disruption.

FMT has reached out to the company for comment. - FMT
