KUALA LUMPUR: A weak earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 was detected in Temenggor, Gerik, in Perak around midnight last night.
The meteorological department (MetMalaysia) said the earthquake occurred at 12.06am at coordinates 5.5 degrees north and 101.3 degrees east.
The epicentre was located 9km northeast of Hulu Perak, Perak, at a depth of 10km.
“The tremors were also felt in the Gerik area, but no tsunami threat was issued,” MetMalaysia said in a statement today.
Members of the public who felt the tremors from the earthquake are encouraged to fill out the questionnaire provided by MetMalaysia.
MetMalaysia will continue to monitor the situation. - FMT
