Police said the student died after crashing into the rear of a 4WD vehicle after attending the RXZ Members 8.0 gathering in Terengganu.
Arissa Shazzira Zainudin, 21, from Kuantan, is believed to be the sixth person to have died in an accident associated with the RXZ event.
Dungun district police chief Nik Ab. Halim Nik Mat said Arissa, who was riding a Yamaha Y125ZR motorcycle, was thrown into the middle of the road after crashing into the rear of a Mitsubishi Triton which had stopped in the emergency lane of the East Coast Expressway 2, Bernama reported.
Both vehicles were heading from Kuala Terengganu to Kuantan after attending the RXZ gathering at the Gong Badak motor sports circuit in Kuala Nerus, according to Sinar Harian.
Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts and fans of the RXZ motorcycle had reportedly attended the gathering, believed to be the largest of its kind.
Yesterday, the road transport department said it would step up enforcement against participants of motorcycle gatherings, including RXZ Members, following reports of recurring accidents frequently linked to such events.
Three motorcyclists were killed and two injured in four separate accidents in Pahang, while in Kuala Nerus, a 13-year-old boy suffered 60% burns and is currently in an induced coma. - FMT
