AKPS director-general Shuhaily Zain says e-waste and drugs were among the main seizures and leakages intercepted by the agency this year.
These were carried out over two phases this year, Bernama reported.
They were conducted in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, police, environment department and port authorities.
“Another 578 containers are scheduled to be sent out in stages beginning this October,” it said in a statement today.
AKPS is targeting the re-export of all 1,259 e-waste containers by the end of 2026.
AKPS director-general Shuhaily Zain said the agency recorded seizures worth RM265.89 million in 2026, about three times the value recorded in the previous year.
E-waste and drugs were among the main seizures and leakages intercepted by the agency this year, he said after the closing ceremony for the AKPS basic training course involving 408 pioneer officers at the police training centre in Kuala Lumpur today.
On drug smuggling trends, Shuhaily said stringent controls through targeted screening at KLIA had helped curb repeated attempts to smuggle drugs.
“Enforcement at KLIA Terminals 1 and 2 sees almost daily arrests involving attempts to smuggle cannabis flowers, mostly masterminded by foreigners.”
On plans to fill 13,721 AKPS positions at 122 entry points nationwide, he said recruitment was being carried out in stages. - FMT
