Malaysia achieved its six-gold target in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games when squash queen S Sivasangari won the women’s individual final in quick fashion this afternoon.

The Kedah-born national champion defended her title when she beat India’s Anahat Singh 11-4, 11-4, 11-7 at the Nagoya Kinjo Futo Arena, and qualified for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Her win followed that of fellow Malaysian Ng Eain Yow earlier in the day when he won Malaysia’s fifth gold at the games with a straight-game victory over another Indian opponent, Abhay Singh.

Defending champion Eain Yow, who also booked his ticket for the 2028 Olympics, won 11-9, 11-5, 11-5.

Malaysia’s medal tally after the squash finals is six gold, two silver and eight bronze.

Two of the golds came from karate, one from sepak takraw, and one from e-sports. - FMT
