MERLIMAU: Barely an hour after his candidacy was announced BN’s Roslan Ahmad, 44, was hitting the campaign trail. His first stop was a bazaar fronting the food court, Merlimau Point, where he shook hands and clapped backs.
A roar erupted from the food court when he stepped in as BN supporters clamoured around him. Both patrons and stall owners craned their necks to catch sight of him as he weaved his way through the lunch crowd while clasping outstretched hands.
“My main focus is to meet as many voters as possible including those outside Merlimau,” he told FMT.
“Merlimau is a BN stronghold but we can’t be overconfident. We still need to strive in offering the best to our voters.”
He added that any advantage he has over PAS’ Yuhaizad Abdullah would lie in the trust and faith of the voters.
“I’m confident that the Merlimau voters are mature and I hope they will make a choice that’s best for them.”
“The BN machinery will work hard and I’m grateful that it is able to deliver a high level of commitment. And if we’re able to convey the hope of the Prime Minister (Najib Tun Razak) and Malacca Chief Minister (Ali Rustam), then Merlimau will remain in BN hands.”
