Activists Hishamuddin Rais and Adam Adli Abdul Halim were released early this morning by the police, following their arrest yesterday in relation to a probe under the Sedition Act 1948.
“They went into every room, looked at my books, meddled with my things but didn't take anything. I suppose they were looking for the flag but I don't have any flags at my house,” he said.
He said they were accused of flying the Sang Saka Malaya flag during a Merdeka celebration at Dataran Merdeka last Friday.
The flag, which has a white stripe, a red stripe and 12 yellow five-pointed stars, was first raised in 1949 by leftist independence movement group Putera-AMCJA.
Police had last year investigated other activists under the same Act for flying the flag at other events, but no one was charged.
