ROS affirms Loi as TI-M's sec-gen
Claims of Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) having two secretary-generals have finally been put to rest after the Registrar of Societies (ROS) officially recognised Loi Kheng Min as the rightful bearer of the position.
"After nearly two months since the tales of two secretary-generals of TI-M broke out, the matter has finally been resolved at the Selangor ROS," declared TI-M president Akhbar Satar in a press release yesterday.
Akhbar said that the Selangor ROS director Noraffendy Abd Khalid had communicated to TI-M about this on Sept 26.
The crisis first broke after former TI-M secretary-general Josie Fernandez claimed that she was replaced by the exco without her resignation, thus creating a situation with two secretary-generals.
This led to a row including a verbal altercation in full view of the media.
Akhbar said that Loi's appointment was recognised by the Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S) in Berlin and this was conveyed by its director Srirak Plipat in a letter dated July 24.
"With the final decision of the ROS’ inquiry on the matter and putting the above episode behind us, the executive committee calls upon all TI-M members to close ranks and work together to achieve TI-M's objectives and contributing positively to the fight against corruption," he said.
