EFFICIENT? Cops find pumpgun used by killer guard in drain just near to Ambank branch
KUALA LUMPUR - A shotgun used by a rogue security guard who shot dead a bank officer in a heist he pulled off at an Ambank branch last month was recovered by police in a drain not far from the bank today.
At about 10am, the 35-year-old guard, who was held in Johor on Sunday after 19 days of being on the run, led a police team from the Subang Jaya district police headquarters to the firearm that he dumped in a drain less than a kilometre away from the Ambank branch in USJ Sentral, Subang Jaya.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said in a press conference today that police are also looking for an Indonesian accomplice of the rogue guard who is known only as Joemar.
He said police learnt that the suspect had handed over the stolen cash of more than RM400,000 to the accomplice who is said to have co-planned the heist.
He said police will raise a photofit of the man soon.
Khalid said police also have the real identity of the Indonesian suspect who carried a fake MyKad with the name Ardi Hamza to gain employment as a security guard.
On Oct 23, the rogue armed security guard who was on duty at the bank, shot and killed bank operations officer Noazita Abu Talib, 37, after she opened a safe vault at a strong room at the place.
He was detained at a fishing village in Kota Tinggi, Johor, minutes before he attempted to board a boat to escape to Indonesia. Police did not recover the stolen cash from the man.
Prior to his arrest, police had held 11 people including the suspect's wife, younger brother, relatives and friends in the Klang Valley and Johor, all of whom were found to be Indonesians who possessed fake MyKads.
The man handed over RM20,000 of the stolen cash to his wife before going into hiding.
