Ku Nan stir-fries Najib's 'kangkung' comment, slams Opposition for making fun of it
KUALA LUMPUR - Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today rapped the opposition for ridiculing Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak over his 'kangkung' (water spinach) statement to the extent of burying the prime minister's real message to the people.
He said the opposition had obviously degraded the prime minister by putting up insulting posters, as well as through the social media, hence making it hard for Najib to get his message across.
"They shouldn't do all this, it's very childish. The kangkung is just to tell the people that although it is the cheapest vegetable and can be found by the river or water canal, its price can also go up.
"That's the prime minister's real message. He wanted to tell the people that the leafy vegetable, which was supposed to be cheap, had also been manipulated by greedy traders to the extent of causing it to be affected by price hike," he told reporters after closing the Federal Territories-level National Economic Empowerment Seminar here today.
Tengku Adnan said by doing so, the opposition had not only created public confusion, but also played with racial fire.
He said the opposition would continue confusing the people because their ultimate goal was to create political instability in the country and to blame the government for all the consequences. – Bernama
