KAJANG: BN confident of winning 30% of Chinese votes, 75% of Malay and Indian

KAJANG: BN confident of winning 30% of Chinese votes, 75% of Malay and Indian
PETALING JAYA -The Barisan Nasional feels it is capable of winning 30% of the Chinese vote in Kajang in the forthcoming by-election.
BN Hulu Langat chairman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz said the coalition will gear itself to boosting the 20% of Chinese votes it garnered in Kajang in the 2013 general election.
"As for the Malay and Indian communities, we will push our target to 75%," he said when contacted today.
Meanwhile, PAS's election campaign chief Dr Mohd Hatta said the by-election will be an interesting one as both coalitions will aim to win the hearts and minds of Kajang voters.
"The one month period before the election date would be used fully in garnering support from the semi-urban electorate," he said.
Kajang has 39,278 voters comprising 38,055 ordinary voters, 1,197 advance voters and 26 absentee or overseas voters.
The seat fell vacant on Jan 27 after assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh of Parti Keadilan Rakyat resigned suddenly after which PKR announced that its de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, would contest the by-election.
Lee had won the seat with a 6,824-vote majority in the May 5 general election last year in a six-cornered contest which also involved the Barisan Nasional, Berjasa and three independent candidates. - The Sundaily
