If found guilty, the Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) students could also be expelled.
KUALA LUMPUR: The eight male students of Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Balik Pulau, Penang, who were involved in the beating case of a Form Two student on October 22, have been suspended with immediate effect.
Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), Deputy Director-General (Education), Azmi Mohamad said if found guilty, the students could also be expelled.
“The matter is being thoroughly investigated and all decisions will be made by the MRSM Disciplinary Committee,” he said in a statement here today.
Last Monday, police detained eight students involved in the case.
They were brought to the Southwest District Police headquarters in Penang to assist investigations into the case of a Form Two student who claimed he was beaten until his ribs were broken.
However, Azmi said, MARA had not yet received an official report from the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang where the injured boy was being treated.
Meanwhile, he said, the victim’s application for transfer to the MRSM in Kuala Kubu Baharu, Selangor, had been approved.
