Corruption, a hallmark of Umno, not PR

Anwar Ibrahim says PM should apologise for accusing him of offering RM100 million to an Umno man to crossover when the opposite is true.
anwar najib new2PETALING JAYA: Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim is livid that the prime minister chose to “attack” him over the allegation that RM100 million was offered by him to an Umno minister to crossover to Pakatan Rakyat, when the contrary was true.
Denying that PR would ever resort to such tactics to woo over Umno leaders, Anwar said, “Money politics and corrupt methods has always been the hallmark of UMNO and BN; Pakatan Rakyat has never practised and will never tolerate money politics or corruption.”
Anwar said this in his latest blog entry where he also related that it was in fact Anifah Aman, who is Minister of Foreign Affairs, who initiated the offer.
Calling Najib Razak’s remarks “a scurrilous and slanderous attack”, Anwar demanded the PM retract his “baseless allegations” in light of the defamation case brought by Anwar against Anifah and that has yet to be resolved by the courts.
“I now call upon Najib to retract this false statement made at the UMNO assembly and to apologise to myself and Pakatan Rakyat.”
Denying that he had offered any form of bribe to Anifah through one Ishak Ismail, Anwar explained, “On the contrary Ishak had confirmed that it was an intermediary acting for Anifah who had approached him instead.
“Ishak has now rightly and boldly challenged Anifah to repeat this allegation outside of court where he will be not protected by legal immunity.”
Calling Anifah’s allegations a “blatant falsehood”, Anwar exclaimed, “We (PR) will save this country by reasoned arguments and by the example of good governance in the states administered by us.
