Vote BN so Chinese ensured of place in gov’t, says Adenan

Chief Minister speaks to voters in DAP-stronghold and appeals to them to vote for BN instead so more Chinese can be represented in government.
adenan-satemMIRI: Chinese voters in Miri should vote for Barisan Nasional if they want to see greater representation in the Sarawak government, the state’s Chief Minister Adenan Satem said.
He said it was his personal wish to see the Chinese, the majority of voters in Miri, be a part of the Sarawak Government, as he only wanted to include, not ignore them.
“If you don’t wish to be in the government vote DAP, if you want to be in the government vote BN.
“If all the Chinese in my team lose, then you will have no Chinese in the government. I don’t want to have no Chinese (representation) in government.
“Like it was before, Chinese have played a significant role in the Sarawak Government since 1970, 40 years ago. I cannot ignore one-third of my countrymen,” he said at a dinner with Pujut BN direct candidate Hii King Chiong, at the Eastwood Golf and Country Club here, last night.
Miri and three other constituencies i.e. Pujut, Piasau and Senadin are Opposition strongholds.
Both Pujut and Piasau were lost to DAP in the 2011 state election, with the latter seeing former SUPP president and Deputy Chief Minister George Chan losing the seat he held since 1983.
Earlier Adenan called on all Bumiputeras i.e. Melayu-Melanau, Iban and Bidayuh voters to stay united as they were key to BN winning in Miri.
Adenan and the BN team are determined to recapture at least two seats from DAP to place SUPP as the main Chinese-based party in the state.
In Pujut, Hii will face independent candidate Fong Pau Teck, defending the seat he won in 2011, as well as DAP candidate Dr Ting Tiong Choon and PAS Sarawak Commissioner Jofri Jarainee.
In Senadin, Lee of SUPP faces Dr Bob Baru Langub of DAP and PBDS-Baru newcomer Philemon John Endau.
In Piasau, Sebastian Ting of SUPP will be in a straight fight against Alan Ling of DAP, who defeated Chan in 2011, triggering a massive win for DAP and the Opposition.
