Rafizi vows volunteers for GE14 candidates who will remove Najib

PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli today committed to recruiting and training volunteers to assist "principled" political candidates for the next general election, regardless of party.

Candidates must support the #ProjekBuangNajib (Remove Najib project) to receive assistance from Invoke volunteers, he said.

Rafizi said the NGO, Invoke, is a much needed avenue for apolitical Malaysians who are eager to contribute to a change of government.

He also donated RM300,000 to the cause, to supplement the RM80,000 Invoke has received from individual donors since beginning operations last month.

"In changing the political and economic situation in this country, it is important to corral the power of the people to push any effort change the country's leadership.

"This way, efforts to remove (prime minister) Najib Abdul Razak and change the government is not left solely to political parties.

"Volunteers will help any candidate, be they from PKR, Amanah, PAS or Umno, as long as the candidates share the same principles as the NGO," the Pandan MP said.

Invoke has recruited 763 volunteers and aims to recruit 30,000 nationwide.

Rafizi said he will assist in recruitment and training in marginal seats, and will be in Ledang, Batu Pajat and Pasir Gudang on Sept 16 to launch the #KAU (you) and #MalaysiaTakPerlukanHero (Malaysia doesn't need heroes) campaigns.

The campaigns are to raise awareness that political power lies in the electorate.

"I will continue to help Invoke in their initial months to meet their volunteer recruitment targets and to spread their influence at grassroots level," he said.

Najib has been under pressure to resign following allegations that he is implicated in the 1MDB scandal, which the United States Department of Justice investigations said amounts to at least US$3.5 billion.-Mkini
