Former journalist Sidek Kamiso was arrested again today, over a tweet that allegedly insulted Islam.
Sidek's wife, Norlin Wan Musa, told Malaysiakini that he was arrested upon turning up at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters for questioning this morning.
"He was arrested under Section 298(a) of the Penal Code, because they said someone lodged a report against him," Norlin said.
Section 298A punishes those who cause "disharmony, disunity, or feelings of enmity, hatred or ill will, or prejudicing the maintenance of harmony or unity, on grounds of religion."
Norlin, however, said that Sidek was released on police bail after being questioned for almost three hours.
He was arrested last week in a pre-dawn raid at his house in Kuala Lumpur, and was taken to Johor Bahru where the police's remand application was rejected by the magistrate.
He was detained then under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, for allegedly posting a tweet that was deemed offensive.
The tweet was said to be related to the death of PAS spiritual leader Haron Din.
