The opposition is spinning the story that Najib is not confident of winning the next general election, which is why he announced yesterday that the next general election would be held in 2018. And to make this story stick, they have to keep repeating it and many people will have to say the same thing. This is how they ‘nailed’ Najib on the 1MDB issue — keep alleging and make sure many people allege it.
NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Ahirudin Attan a.k.a. Rocky’s Bru, a former journalist and now a Datuk cum Umno blogger, is upset that the media misquoted (or ‘lost in translation’ as he says HERE) what Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak said in Germany yesterday.
The press reported that Najib confirmed he is not going to dissolve Parliament and call for the next general election (PRU14) until 2018. That could mean the GE would be in the second half of 2018, almost two years from now.
The ANC (Anti-Najib Campaign) activists, the Pakatuns, and the DAP Red Bean Army are exploiting this ‘revelation’ to say that this is ‘proof’ Najib is scared. If really Najib is strong, as they say, if the opposition is in a mess, as they allege, if Umno and Barisan Nasional are really going to do better in the next general election compared to the previous general election, as they predict, then any sensible person would dissolve Parliament and call for snap elections now.
The question the Prime Minister’s critics and opposition supporters are asking is: Why is Najib scared of calling for elections?
And this is why Rocky came out with his posting today to say that the Prime Minister has been misquoted — whether intentionally or otherwise is not clear. If they allow this story to continue, and more and more people pick up this story and repeat it, then that story would become fact. And the question ‘Why is Najib scared of calling for elections?’ will become engraved in stone.
And that is the problem (or used to be the problem) with Najib’s media team, whoever they are. They allow rumours and stories to continue unchecked until it becomes ‘the truth’. Then, by the time the ‘wound’ has festered and turned septic, all the doctor can do is amputate.
Anyway, I don’t know why Rocky is grumbling. In June 2008 it was his team of Umno Bloggers who came out with the story that I had alleged that the Deputy Prime Minister’s wife was at the scene of Altantuya Shaariibuu’s murder.
Not many people were aware of that story, of course, until a reporter asked the Attorney General, Abdul Gani Patail, about my so-called allegation. Gani, who had not even read my Statutory Declaration (SD), said I had signed a false SD and, therefore, am going to be arrested and charged.
Gani had not even read the SD yet and yet he told the press that I had signed a false SD. How did he know? The following day, the IGP also announced that I had signed a false SD and that I was going to be arrested and charged.
By the time they arrested me and put me on trial, and at the same time detained me without trial for ‘insulting Islam’ while I was on trial for signing a false SD, the whole country knew this story. And that so-called ‘story’ is that I had alleged the Deputy Prime Minister’s wife was at the scene of Altantuya’s murder.
When I was charged in court I told the judge that the charge is defective and mala fide and because of that I refused to enter any plea. I was being charged for something I did not do, so I refused to layan the court. The judge took that as a ‘not guilty’ plea.
I shouted at the judge and told him that I did not plead ‘not guilty’. The whole court was stunned and I expected to be cited for contempt of court. The judge just looked down and did not dare look me in the face.
He knew that I was being charged for something I did not do but he had no choice but to allow the case to go on. I knew the judge was on my side because the prosecution asked for bail to be set at RM10,000 while my lawyers pleaded for it to be RM5,000. The judge, however, set the bail at just RM3,000, which was quite abnormal since no one asked for it to be RM3,000.
Anyway, because of all these events, millions of Malaysians are convinced that I did make that allegation in my SD. Everyone said so, so it must be true. And when I insist that I did not say what I am alleged to have said, they accuse me of doing a u-turn, backtracking or back-pedalling.
How can you do a u-turn, backtrack or back-pedal on something you did not say? Whatever it is, they insist that I did say what I am alleged to have said. And do you know what is so ironical about this whole thing? All those people who insist that I have done do a u-turn, backtracked or back-pedalled have not read my SD. Yes, not a single person who accuses me of ‘turning’ has read that SD.
So, can you see the power of allegations? It sticks to you and the longer it is the more it becomes ‘the truth’. Today, it does not matter what I say any longer. One friend of mine asked his lawyer friend whether he had read my June 2008 Statutory Declaration. That lawyer replied he has not and does not wish to read it because he is convinced I had done a u-turn on the SD.
Now, this is a lawyer mind you. And yet he told my friend the evidence is not important. He does not wish to see the evidence because he is already convinced I am guilty as alleged. So, just because someone went to law school, that does not make him or her smart. I know many lawyers and I think many are quite stupid.
For example, I have seen many lawyers argue that Malaysia is a Secular State because the Constitution does not state Malaysia is a Theocratic State. The UK does not have a written Constitution. So is Britain a Secular State or a Theocratic State? Let’s see how our smart Malaysian lawyers answer that question.
Anyway, this is the reason why Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is hammering away regarding the 1MDB issue and about RM42 billion of 1MDB’s money disappearing into thin air and about RM2.6 billion of 1MDB’s money being transferred to Najib’s personal bank account and so on.
However, Mahathir knows that allegations alone are not enough. People will just say even Mahathir was alleged to have wasted RM100 billion of Malaysia’s money and siphoned another RM100 billion and placed them in the names of his trustees, proxies, nominees and cronies.
As Mahathir said, he may have been accused of many things when he was Prime Minister for 22 years but he was never charged for any crime and nothing was ever proven until today. So that means the allegations are lies and he is innocent.
Yes, Mahathir hides behind the doctrine of innocent until proven guilty. But then in Najib’s case Mahathir says the Prime Minister is guilty because the ‘evidence’ shows he is guilty and if Najib is innocent then he must prove it by showing the evidence of his innocence.
This sound a bit warped, does it not? But the beautiful thing is many Malaysians accept Mahathir’s argument. What Mahathir said is true. The ‘evidence’ shows that Najib is guilty. But if Najib says he is innocent then show us the evidence of his innocence.
Yes, Malaysia is a Secular State because the Constitution does not state Malaysia is a Theocratic State. And Najib is guilty because the ‘evidence’ says so and Najib is not able to show the evidence that he is innocent.
And what is this ‘evidence’ that shows Najib is guilty?
First of all, many people have approached Mahathir to tell him about 1MDB and Mahathir has revealed this. And since many people say so and Mahathir has revealed that many people say so, this is very strong evidence that Najib is guilty.
Okay, some may argue that Anwar Ibrahim was also accused of having sex with young men, boys, prostitutes and other people’s wives. But then just because many people say so that does not make the allegation true. Anwar is a victim of a political conspiracy that Mahathir launched so all the allegations are lies.
Secondly, Tony Pua, who is a PAC member, says so. And Tony makes this allegation as a PAC member and not as a DAP leader. There is nothing political about Tony’s allegation. It is all about saving Malaysia and making sure that the DAP-led Pakatan Harapan can take over the country in the next general election so that Malaysia can be saved.
Thirdly, bloggers and journalists from the UK, US, Australia, etc., say so and white people are very clever at investigative journalism and are the best in the business. What they say is always 100% correct, such as when they said Saddam Hussein was hiding WMDs in Iraq.
Fourthly, the MACC raided the office of 1MDB’s auditors and confiscated all the documents and accounts. And the MACC would never raid your office and confiscate your documents, like what happened in Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s case, unless you are really guilty.
Fifthly, the United States Attorney General and Department of Justice announced on 20th July 2016 that the allegations against 1MDB are true. And the United States Attorney General and Department of Justice would never do anything wrong even though many allegations have surfaced — for example like in the case of Hillary Clinton’s private e-mails scandal where allegations of kowtim have been made against the United States Attorney General and Department of Justice.
Those five pieces of ‘evidence’ alongside a couple of others is ‘proof’ that Najib is guilty. And as long as people keep saying this for another two years, like what they have been doing for the last two years, and if more and more people keep saying it, then undoubtedly Najib is guilty as hell. That is how it works.
If you keep saying Anwar is gay and if many people say so then it is true.
If you keep saying Mahathir stole RM100 billion and if many people say so then it is true.
If you keep saying Lim Guan Eng is corrupt and if many people say so then it is true.
If you keep saying Lim Kit Siang is having an affair with ‘Mummy Foo’ and Lim Guan Eng is having an affair with ‘Rainbow’ and if many people say so then it is true.
Mahathir knows this and that is why he is hammering away on the 1MDB issue and is bribing many other people, both in and outside Malaysia, to also do the same. Then, over time, lies would become the truth. I know how it works because they did the same to me regarding the June 2008 Statutory Declaration issue.
