Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has taken a swipe at Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali for claiming a senior Umno minister had tendered his resignation from the cabinet.
"I also heard he's going to resign as MB of Selangor! I heard he is going to resign. So same, lah.
"I am lying, but I tell you lah. This useless opposition," the Federal Territories minister told reporters when met after the Kenduri 1Wilayah Persekutuan programme at Seri Penara flats in Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.
Earlier this morning, Tengku Adnan had in response to Azmin's initial tweet on the purported resignation described the latter as a "liar".
"I am in the cabinet (and should know). There is no such thing, to the point the prime minister had to issue a denial.
"This is a big liar...the Selangor MB," said Adnan during his speech at the Pudu Ulu People's Housing Project in Cheras.
Responding to Najib's denial, Azmin during a function last night said he was not surprised and further claimed that he was informed of the resignation by the said minister himself.
No decision on Jamal
Meanwhile, Tengku Adnan today also said that Umno has yet to accept the resignation of its Sungai Besar division chief Jamal Md Yunos.
"Not yet, not yet!," he said when asked on the matter.
Following his arrest and investigation for alleged gang robbery, Jamal last Tuesday reiterated his intention to resign from the post, but said the final decision lies with Selangor Umno liaison chief Noh Omar.
Noh yesterday said Jamal's position would remain unchanged pending a final decision from the Umno supreme council. -Mkini
