The voice message claims the North Korean leader's visit has caused traffic jams in the city.
PETALING JAYA: Police have advised members of the public to ignore a viral WhatsApp message that says Kuala Lumpur was gridlocked due to the arrival of North Korean leader Kim Jun Un to Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur city traffic chief ACP Mohd Nadzri Hussain said the information in the voice message was fake.
“It’s not true. Don’t believe it and please don’t share fake information,” he told The Star Online.
The voice message claimed Jong Un was on his way to Hospital Kuala Lumpur and that his presence in the city resulted in traffic being backed up along some roads.
Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of Jong Un, was killed after two women smeared his face with the VX nerve agent at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 on Feb 13 as he was waiting to board a flight to Macau.
Malaysia is waiting for Jong Nam’s next of kin to identify the body. It is believed that in the event no next of kin comes forward, the authorities will rely on dental records or identifying marks like moles to confirm the murder victim’s identity. -FMT
