PARLIAMENT |A BN lawmaker has suggested that fathers who rape their children be “poked” with a hot iron road, earning a scorching rebuke from an opposition lawmaker.
"I propose, if possible, we poke the man who does this with an iron rod so he can feel the pain of his victim," Ahmad Lai Bujang (BN-Sibuti) told the Dewan Rakyat today.
"When a child is raped by her father or an uncle, the whole family, including her siblings, would be put under stress," he added while demonstrating how the perpetrator should be “poked”.
This prompted Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Ismail Mohamed to question if this was merely a proposal.
At this juncture, Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Azizah Mohd Dun said: "Can I answer?"
"Do you agree or not?" responded the deputy speaker. Azizah did not answer and sat down.
Taking to Twitter, PKR MP N Surendran condemned the proposal.
“Poke with hot iron rod, shoot drug suspects- anymore barbaric ideas from BN MPs?” he asked.
