Jamal: I'm still in the country, no need for Interpol

Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos believes it is a waste of time for Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to ask for cooperation from foreign authorities, including Interpol, to track him down.
Interpol does not need to pay attention to this call for cooperation, Jamal said, because his acts were did not threaten public security or peace.
“It was only a small crime, what I did, such as protesting the beer festival by breaking beer bottles in front of the state secretariat building using a hammer, where the punishment is only a fine not exceeding RM400.
“Meanwhile, the other crimes for example, for holding an illegal gathering, can only be fined RM100,” he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian today.
Jamal's remarks were recorded in a WhatsApp voice message, which was circulated on the application.
He added, however, that it is up to the government to request assistance from Interpol or other foreign authorities.
“I am still in the country, and the Immigration Department director-general has said I have not been detected leaving the country.
“I have no issues with wherever they want to say I am, but most importantly, I am not breaking any laws,” he said.
Inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun had previously said an arrest warrant had been issued against Jamal by the Ampang magistrate court on June 1.
The arrest warrant was issued under Section 224 of the Penal Code for fleeing from a valid arrest.
On May 25, Jamal reportedly disappeared after being admitted to the Ampang Puteri specialist hospital. - Mkini
