Outgoing Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali did not submit any names of possible successors during his meeting with state ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today.
"Oh, no (name was submitted). The discussion was focused on development and the administration of the state government," Azmin said when asked about the list.
Azmin is stepping down as menteri besar after taking up a federal portfolio as economic affairs minister.
The PKR deputy president said today was the best time for him to meet Sultan Sharafuddin, as he had just held his final Selangor executive council meeting.
Tomorrow, he said, he would be leaving to perform the umrah, and would only be back a day before Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
His successor is scheduled to be sworn in on June 19.
Party insiders have told Malaysiakini that the frontrunner for the post of menteri besar is Sungai Tua assemblyperson Amirudin Shari.
The other two names said to be on the list are PKR vice-president Shaharuddin Baharuddin and Dr Idris Ahmad. - Mkini
