'Follow the norm' - PAS against live telecast of Najib's trial

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man is against the live airing of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's money laundering trial, which is set to begin on Wednesday.
The Kubang Kerian MP said courtroom norms should apply to Najib, who has voiced support for airing his trial live.
"For me, it (Najib's trial) should be conducted behind closed doors as is the norm. What is important is that justice is given to all," Tuan Ibrahim told Malaysiakini when contacted.
He expressed concern that airing the trial live would lead to public commentary, accusations and speculation.
"It could disrupt the court proceedings," he said.
Earlier, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim had also stated his preference for Najib's trial to be aired live, saying that “the rakyat deserve to know how much of the country's money was robbed”.
Najib will stand trial on Wednesday in relation to seven money laundering charges involving RM42 million in funds belonging to former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International.
Najib has denied wrongdoing or taking public funds for personal gain. - Mkini
