PETALING JAYA: Golden Screen Cinemas this evening announced it has shut down its theatres at Berjaya Times Square and Cheras Leisure Mall, both of which has been operating for over a decade, because of the current movement restrictions.
The cinema at the Cheras Leisure Mall opened in 1995, while the one at Berjaya Times Square in 2005.
“We had a good long run, but due to the current situation with opening restrictions due to the CMCO, (we) have had to shutter these cinemas permanently,” it said in an announcement on Facebook.
Yesterday, the cinema chain announced the temporary closure of its operations at Ipoh Parade due to the re-implementation of the conditional movement control order.
Last month, GSC had reopened its theatres in nine locations from Dec 16, with patrons required to sit one seat apart.
All cinemas across the country were temporarily suspended from November, after suffereing a 90% drop in revenue since the Covid-19 pandemic began. - FMT
