JB-Singapore rapid transit plans up for public inspection

The proposed Johor Bharu-Singapore rapid transit system is scheduled to begin operations in 2026.

KUALA LUMPUR: Plans for the Rapid Transit System Link between Johor Bahru and Singapore will be available for public inspection from tomorrow until April 15.

Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd said today that the public inspection would be done virtually following enforcement of the movement control order.

All documents and materials for the public inspection have been prepared online on the MRT Corp website at www.mymrt.com.my.

“Initially, MRT Corp intended to open two physical public inspection locations, namely, the Land Transport Agency headquarters in Kuala Lumpur and the Komtar complex in Johor Bahru. “MRT Corp will open these to the public after the MCO ends,” the company said.

“Information on the RTS Link project, including plans and alignment profiles, station site context plans, trains and details about possible land acquisitions for the project will be prepared for public scrutiny.

Feedback or objections must be made between Jan 15 and April 15, 2021 using the form available on the MRT Corp website along with the public inspection materials.

RTS Link is a train service between Johor Bahru and Woodlands, Singapore, on a 4km-long route from Bukit Chagar, Johor Bahru, and Woodlands North, Singapore.

Malaysia Rapid Transit System Sdn Bhd, a fully-owned subsidiary of MRT Corp, was appointed as Malaysia’s public infrastructure company for the project with the line’s public infrastructure work expected to be completed in 2024 and the train service at the end of 2026. - FMT
