More leaders should do "behind the scenes" work as that would be "healthier" for the party, said Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.
When met at the launch of PKR Youth's young professional bureau, the former party vice-president was asked if her appearance at the programme was a sign that she would return to active politics, having previously stated that she refused to engage in it again.
"Actually, I have always been doing work in the background. I think more leaders should be doing such work.
"I believe that's healthier for organisations and the parties," she said.
In December 2018, Nuruh Izzah resigned as PKR vice-president just a month after she was elected to the post with the most votes in the party election.
In July last year, she repeated her stance that she would carry out her duties to strengthen the party and the machinery but refused to get involved in politics, nor did she want anything to do with the issue of Pakatan Harapan's prime ministerial candidate.
The issue is on the promised handover of power by former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad to her father PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, which was reneged on when Mahathir tried to form a unity government under his leadership.
Last month, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the decision for Nurul Izzah to return to an active role in mainstream political leadership was up to her.
He said the PKR grassroots are very eager to see Nurul Izzah active in the party again.
Recently, due to disputes within the Harapan coalition regarding its direction, there was a call for young leaders to come forward.
Another former PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli also took a step back from politics two years ago and said he was more interested in concentrating on technological advances and building employment opportunities. - Mkini
