Saiful joins Bersatu as his first 'political vessel'

 

After being adrift in politics for 12 years without a party, Saiful Bukhari Azlan has finally found one - Bersatu.

The former aide to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said today that he has chosen to join Bersatu as his debut political platform.

Taking to Facebook, Saiful said he had deliberated his decision at length and sought guidance from Allah SWT for two months.

"I would like to humbly announce that I have chosen to join Bersatu as my first party or political vessel.

“Alhamdulillah, my application was approved yesterday (Jan 6)," he said.

Saiful also said he chose to be a member of the Bentong Bersatu division, as it was also his father's hometown.

The 35-year-old said he had spent the past 12 years in politics without a party and the time has come for him to choose a formal platform for the future.

He also claimed to have been courted by other political parties before his final decision to join Bersatu.

In the 2018 Port Dickson by-election, which saw Anwar's return to Parliament, Saiful had challenged his former boss as an Independent candidate and ranked last in the seven-cornered fight.

Anwar served a three-year prison sentence in 2015 after the Federal Court upheld his conviction for sodomising Saiful in 2008. On May 16, 2018, Anwar was released after being granted a royal pardon. - Mkini
