PAGOH: The Orang Asli community in two settlements here received aid under the "Pagoh Prihatin" programme recently.

The assistance was doubled due to the extension of the Movement Control Order.

Pagoh Armada and Srikandi Bersatu volunteers handed the supplies to villagers.

"We are very concerned about how tough and difficult times are. This assistance should be sufficient for them and hopefully the added quantity can help them get through a difficult period," said Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal, Bukit Pagoh state assemblyman.

Assistance will also be given to three Bukit Kepong Orang Asli villages in Sungai Puyu, Tambak Dapur and Bukit Panjang as well as one Felcra settlement.

Food supplies were also distributed to the needy among the Chinese community in Pagoh in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Efforts to distribute the assistance to Lenga, Bukit Kepong, Bukit Pasir and Panchor were led by Janariah Abu Nawan, Pagoh Srikandi chief.

The Prime Minister's special officer Datuk Tahir Taat was present to supervise the handover along with Pagoh Bersatu chief information officer, Zakaria Abdul Karim. - NST
