As Covid-19 vaccinations begin in Malaysia, businesses have begun offering incentives to encourage the public to register to be inoculated.
Burger restaurant chain MyBurgerLab is giving patrons a 15 percent discount if they can prove they have signed up for the vaccine.
To redeem the discount, customers will need to show a screenshot of their MySejahtera vaccination registration confirmation screen when checking out their orders at MyBurgerLab physical stores.
The offer is valid from today (Feb 25) until Sunday (Feb 28).
Its sister eateries MyPizzaLab and Inside Scoop are also offering similar incentives.
Meanwhile, The Edge reported that national carrier Malaysia Airlines will soon be launching its version of a vaccine passport called the “Digital Travel Health Pass”.
Travellers will be able to include their Covid-19 vaccination certificate in the digital pass.
They will also be able to make appointments for RT-PCR tests, verify their travel eligibility, and share their eligibility status with the authorities.
The pass will be integrated into the existing Malaysia Airlines mobile phone app.
Commercial international air travel has been severely restricted since March 2020 when Malaysia imposed its first movement control order (MCO) to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
The economy has also suffered.
The first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines arrived in the country last Sunday and the first six people were vaccinated yesterday.
According to the government’s National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, medical and non-medical frontliners will be vaccinated first, between February and April.
High-risk groups like the elderly and those with comorbidities will be inoculated in the second phase (April to August).
The rest of the adult population will be vaccinated in the third phase (May to February 2022).
Vaccines are free for all who choose to register for them, regardless of citizenship status and nationality. - Mkini
