Cops record statements of eight people over CNY celebration at Bukit Ketumbar

 

AMPANG: Eight individuals from the group seen celebrating Chinese New Year at Bukit Ketumbar have turned themselves in.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said police recorded the statements of the six men and two women.

"They were also issued with compounds for violating Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP).

"We urged the others involved in the celebration to come forward as soon as possible," ACP Mohamad Farouk said when contacted on Monday (Feb 15).

It was reported that a group of about 20 people who were seen in a video celebrating Chinese New Year at Bukit Ketumbar here have been told to come forward.

ACP Mohamad Farouk had said the video, which has gone viral, showed about 20 people enjoying Yee Sang at Bukit Ketumbar, in violation of Covid-19 SOP.

"We believe the group had gathered at Bukit Ketumbar in the morning.

"We are still investigating the matter," he said.

ACP Mohamad Farouk urged those seen in the video to go the Ampang Jaya police headquarters as soon as possible to assist in the investigation.

"We urge the public not to violate any SOP stated by the National Security Council (NSC).

"Our ultimate goal is to break the chain of infection, so we hope the public can give full cooperation," he added. - Star
