KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government officially handed over 177 land titles to federal agencies in the state for the construction of schools, hospitals, police and fire stations, and other facilities today.

Chief minister Hajiji Noor presented the titles for the land, totalling 1,934ha, to state federal secretary Samsuni Mohd Noor on behalf of the respective agencies at the state administrative centre here.

Hajiji said this was the state’s commitment for the benefit of all Malaysians in Sabah.

Earlier, state Land and Survey Department director Bernard Liew Chau Min said all quit rent and land premium for the 177 titles had been fully settled by the federal land commissioner to the state government.

“The handing over of the land for use by the federal agencies is in line with Article 83 of the Federal Constitution,” he said in a statement.

Of the 177 land titles, 90 were given to the education ministry, 42 to the health ministry, 28 to the transport ministry and the rest to other ministries. - FMT
