KUALA LUMPUR: The enhanced movement control order at Jelebu Prison's transit block ended on Sunday (Feb 7).
Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Health Ministry confirmed that all 49 Covid-19 positive cases, placed at the transit block, have recovered fully and been discharged, while 69 other inmates have completed their Home Surveillance Order (HSO).
"After a risk assessment, the government has agreed to end the enhanced MCO as scheduled on Feb 7," he said in a statement on Sunday.
Ismail Sabri also announced that the enhanced MCO at Bentong Prison and workers quarters, which is supposed to end on Monday (Feb 8), has been extended until Feb 22.
"A total of 2,085 screenings have been conducted involving detainees, personnel as well as close contacts.
"A total of 767 cases have been recorded," he added.
The Health Ministry also confirmed that there was an increase of 13 cases on Feb 5, he said.
"After a risk assessment, the government has agreed to extend the enhanced MCO there from Feb 9 until 22," he said.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri announced that enhanced MCO at Taiping Prison and workers quarters have been extended until Feb 22.
"A total of 544 screenings were conducted and 112 cases were recorded involving 90 inmates, 21 personnel and a family member.
"The Health Ministry also confirmed that 40 other samples are still awaiting results and there are still inmates who are symptomatic," he added. - Star
