MCO task force can enter offices to ensure WFH compliance

The Movement Control Order (MCO) Operation Task Force has the authority to enter office buildings to ensure employers comply with the work-from-home (WFH) directive -NSTP/MOHAMAD SHAHRIL BADRI SAALI.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Movement Control Order (MCO) Operation Task Force has the authority to enter office buildings to ensure employers comply with the work-from-home (WFH) directive which allows only 30 per cent of a company's workforce to be in the office.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said each office, irrespective of whether they are in the public or private sector, is required to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) related to the number of manpower allowed inside the office at any one time.

"I hope employers will monitor and ensure that they comply with the directive. This is to ensure the safety of their workers and protect them from the risk of getting infected by Covid-19.

"I however hope there is no need to reach the stage where the task force needs to enter offices to check. The employers themselves can monitor the SOP compliance," he said during a press conference today.

The minister was asked to comment on workplace-related Covid-19 clusters which are being unearthed daily.

He said the MCO Operation Task Force would continue to conduct inspections at factories to ensure that these premises comply with the SOP enforced throughout the MCO period. - NST
