PETALING JAYA: More than 14,000 homes were built for B40 and M40 communities last year, housing and local government minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said today.
Outlining the ministry’s achievements for 2020 and its plans for 2021, Zuraida said 3,120 People’s Housing Project (PPR) units, 5,043 units under the civil servants’ housing scheme (PPAM) and 5,931 Perumahan Rakyat 1Malaysia Corporation (PR1MA) units were built last year.
A total of 453 units under the Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) scheme were built in 2020 while 2,030 B40 housing units were renovated.
“For this year, the ministry has set aside RM500 million to construct 14,000 PPR units, RM315 million to construct 300 RMR units and RM310 million for the construction of PPAM units.
“Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd will complete 12 residential projects with 4,380 units in 2021 and has plans to implement 11 other projects with 7,407 units,” Zuraida said, adding that PR1MA also targets 15,577 units to be completed this year.
Meanwhile, her ministry has allocated another RM125 million for maintenance work on low-cost housing as well as to repair dilapidated houses damaged by natural disasters. - FMT
