More than 2 persons allowed per table in MCO states beginning tomorrow

More than two persons are allowed to sit at a table for dine-in in states under the movement control order (MCO) beginning tomorrow.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob also announced that the number of people in a vehicle would be based on the vehicle's passenger capacity starting tomorrow.

This will also be in effect in states under the conditional and recovery MCO.

"The (national security council's) meeting today agreed to allow the number of people dining-in to be based on the size of the table with a social distancing measure of one metre.

"As for vehicles, the number of passengers in a vehicle is based on the vehicle's passenger capacity," he said in a media briefing today.

The MCO for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, and Penang has been extended for another two weeks beginning tomorrow until March 4.

Perlis will be placed under the recovery MCO, while the rest of the country will be under the conditional MCO.

Solemnisation Ceremony

In the SOP's latest update, Ismail also said that in states under the MCO, a solemnisation ceremony at the mosque and religious office is allowed with the maximum number of guests to be at 20, excluding witnesses and the kadi.

For states under the conditional MCO, the number of guests at a solemnisation ceremony is half of the capacity of the premises.

For states under the recovery MCO, the number of guests is based on the premises' size.

Ismail said the National Unity department will announce the SOPs for the reception events for non-Muslims in the near future.

In addition to that, domestic tourism activity for those in the conditional MCO will be opened, but it will be limited to 50 percent of the premises' size.

In another update, Ismail announced that the enhanced MCO status in two villages in Lundu, namely Sebako 1 and Sebako 2, will be lifted as scheduled tomorrow.

However, the enhanced MCO on Sekolah Menengah Sultan Idris Shah II in Gerik will be extended until March 1 following four new positive cases detected, which prompted swab tests on all students. - Mkini
