Three Pakatan Harapan elected representatives in Selangor are organising a Covid-19 mass testing campaign this weekend.
The first 100 people to pre-register at each of the campaign’s four venues will be offered a discounted price of RM50 for a rapid antigen test (RTK-Ag).
The normal price for the campaign will be RM70 for an RTK-Ag test, whereas the more sensitive reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test would cost RM180.
“The weekend programme is our pilot project; we may extend the programme depending on the take-up rate and any changes to the rate of infection, especially in the Petaling district.
“We are stepping in after seeing that the infection spread has penetrated into the community in Selangor and lockdowns are now proving to be relatively less effective in this situation.
“Affordable and rapid Covid-19 tests using RTK-Ag is one method to prevent morbidity and mortality due to delayed Covid-19 diagnosis,” said Sungai Buloh MP Sivarasa Rasiah, Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah, and Bukit Lanjan assemblyperson Elizabeth Wong in a joint statement today.
The venues are as follows:
Feb 6 (Saturday)
- Dewan Balairaya Jalan 19, Desa Jaya, Kepong
- Dewan Serbaguna SS7, Petaling Jaya
- Dewan MBPJ PJS 1, Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya
- Pusat Khidmat Parlimen Sg Buloh, Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya
Feb 7 (Sunday)
- Dewan Balairaya Jalan 19, Desa Jaya, Kepong
- Dewan Serbaguna SS7, Petaling Jaya
- Dewan MBPJ PJS 1, Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya
- Dewan MPPK Paya Jaras Tengah, Shah Alam
The mass testing sites are open from 9am to 3pm. RTK-Ag tests will be made known on the day of testing, whereas RT-PCR tests would take around three days to obtain results.
The event is jointly organised with Healtopedia that will be providing doctors and medical staff.

Meanwhile, the three elected representatives reiterated the call for greater health sharing between the Health Ministry’s Selangor Health Department and the Selangor state government.
“The non-cooperation and non-disclosure of Covid-19 data in Selangor has adversely affected any attempt to study and predict where and how the virus is spreading.
“In addition, the failure by the federal government to contact-trace swiftly is perhaps one of the key reasons the infection rates are increasing in Selangor.
“It is critical for both the federal and state government of Selangor to start working together to make sure the current situation does not deteriorate any further,” they said. - Mkini
