Kuala Lumpur police have completed their investigations on the case involving Annuar Musa who purportedly flouted the movement control order's standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Kuala Lumpur police chief Saiful Azly Kamaruddin (above, right) said they have submitted the investigation paper (IP) to the Bukit Aman police headquarters for further instructions.
"The probe has been completed and we sent (the IP) to Bukit Aman today," he told the media at the Kuala Lumpur contingent police headquarters at Jalan Hang Tuah today.
When asked why police didn't slap a compound notice on Annuar as raised by Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, Saiful Azly refused to comment.
Ramkarpal had criticised the police for treating Annuar's case differently from that of non-VIP SOP violators.
"Why is Annuar’s case so different to the point that it needs to go all the way up to the attorney-general?
"Unless Annuar is being investigated for a non-compoundable offence under the Penal Code, which there has been no indication of, he should be treated like any other citizen who breached the SOPs," said Ramkarpal.
Annuar was alleged to have breached the MCO's SOPs after a picture of him and six others sitting close together at a table for a meal circulated on social media.
The picture was believed to have been taken during an event in Seri Petaling in the capital on Feb 13.
On another matter, Saiful Azly said police have also completed their investigations into an alleged sexual harassment case at a roadblock along Jalan Duta involving a police officer.
Saiful Azly said the IP was submitted to Bukit Aman this week.
The victim had posted about the alleged harassment on Twitter, saying that the policeman had asked her to lift her blouse to avoid being fined for failing to produce her driving license. - Mkini
