The National Security Council (NSC) has decided to impose enhanced movement control orders (MCO) on two rural villages in Perak.
Felcra Nasaruddin in Bota, Perak Tengah, will be placed under a two-week total lockdown from Feb 3 to 16. This came after 28 Covid-19 cases were detected there. Forty-five villagers are currently under home quarantine.
Felda Bersia in Hulu Perak will also be under enhanced MCO from Feb 3 to 16 after 20 infections were recorded among villagers. The lockdown will affect residents in Section Two and a portion of those in Section 1.
Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today that the Felda Bersia lockdown will involve 800 people.
He told a broadcasted press conference that the NSC further decided to extend the enhanced MCO currently imposed on Kampung Orang Asli Batu 6 in Batang Padang, Perak, to Feb 10.
This was as one positive case remained under isolation while 34 residents had yet to complete their home quarantine periods. The village with 494 residents has recorded a total of 27 Covid-19 infections thus far.
The village has been under lockdown since Jan 21.
Meanwhile, the enhanced MCO imposed on Pusat Pemuliharaan Akhlak (correctional rehabilitation centre) in Muar, Johor, will be lifted tomorrow as scheduled.
The facility has been under lockdown since Dec 24, 2020.
Ismail said all 22 Covid-19 cases from Block C and the school block at the centre have recovered. - Mkini
