Opposition MPs say they have not received a single penny of allocation from the federal government.
This is after Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi complained that he was only getting RM100,000 in allocation which he claimed was similar to what was given to opposition representatives.
In contrast, Zahid claimed his counterparts in Perikatan Nasional were getting RM3.7 million in allocations.
Taking to social media, some opposition MPs point out that they were being treated worse than Zahid.
"When did opposition MPs get RM100,000? As the MP for Segambut, I have not received a single sen this year," Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh said.
Likewise, Rasah MP Cha Kee Chin too said there has yet to be news that opposition MPs will get any allocation at all for their constituencies.
"To date, opposition MPs have not received any allocations nor have we been contacted by the Implementation Coordination Unit in the Prime Minister's Department," he said.
However, Cha expressed surprise that Zahid, as a government backbencher, was only getting RM100,000 in allocation.
"Is this how Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is treating Zahid?" he said.
Yesterday, Zahid in an interview sarcastically thanked Muhyiddin's government for the RM100,000.
"I will receive RM100,000 in allocation for 2021 while other government MPs get RM3.7 million. I think this is enough for Bagan Datuk, the most-backwards area in Perak, to get RM100,000," Zahid said.
Zahid said this was despite voting in support of Budget 2021.
He also revealed that other Umno MPs who have been vocal against Muhyiddin were also receiving lower allocations.
"This is the allocation given to Bagan Datuk (MP), Pontian (MP Ahmad Maslan), Pekan (MP Najib Abdul Razak), Padang Rengas (MP Nazri Abdul Aziz) and Machang (MP Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub).
"Hopefully, those who made the call will open their heart to equal allocations to the MPs who supported the Budget 2021 in Dewan Rakyat," he said. - Mkini
