Pakatan Harapan component parties - PKR, DAP and Amanah - have decided to contest in the upcoming Malacca state election under the coalition’s logo.
Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim announced this in a press conference at PKR’s headquarters today.
“Harapan has discussed the party logos and there were all sorts of respected views from the leadership of all three parties including Upko, but our decision is for Malacca.
“We unanimously agreed to use the Harapan logo.
“All of Harapan’s strength will be using the Harapan logo, so we will be fighting under one logo, one stand, and one manifesto at the state level,” Anwar said.
Upko, the remaining Harapan component party, recently joined the coalition and is based in Sabah.
Anwar also announced the seat distribution among the three parties in the Malacca snap polls in the press conference today.
Previously, Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin had said Bersatu, PAS and Gerakan had agreed to contest in Malacca under the coalition’s logo.
However, PAS has since said its party leadership – the central committee and the Syura Council – have yet to endorse using the PN logo in the Malacca state election.
Malacca goes to the polls on Nov 20, with the nomination day fixed for Nov 8. - Mkini
