The Health Ministry has refuted allegations that have gone viral on social media claiming the Omicron Covid-19 variant has been detected in Perak.
The denial of the viral news was issued by the agency concerned through the Communications and Multimedia Ministry's Quick Response Team this morning.
It said that to date, no case linked to the Omicron variant, which has 32 protein spike mutations - twice as many as the Delta variant - has been found in the country.
The public has been advised to stop disseminating information from unauthentic sources, which can cause confusion and anxiety among the community, and should instead refer to the Health Ministry's official social media to obtain authentic information.
