DAP man 4th Johor polls candidate to catch Covid-19

PETALING JAYA: DAP’s Yeo Tung Siong has become the fourth candidate in the Johor state elections to catch Covid-19, testing positive after an RT-PCR test today.

Yeo, the candidate for the Pekan Nanas seat, said he had tested negative in a self-test yesterday, but felt unwell in the evening. He then went for an RT-PCR test and cancelled all his campaign activities.

“Since morning, I have been staying at home. I was confirmed to be positive at 6pm. I immediately contacted my close contacts.

“We will cancel all our campaign activities, including our live event tonight and the open ceramah scheduled for tomorrow,” he said, adding that he only had light symptoms and had already received his booster dose.

Earlier today, Barisan Nasional’s candidate for Penggaram, Ter Hwa Kwong, said he tested positive in the morning, grinding his physical campaign programmes to a halt.

Previously, PKR’s Arthur Chiong tested positive just four days into campaigning, while Pejuang had to announce a change of candidate for the Endau seat after its initial pick, Zaini Tahar, tested positive. - FMT
