My Comments :

First of all here is the lion laughing at you again.

Nothing has changed. This is the Madani regime. The same as UMNO / BN, PN, Bersatu or whoever. No change.

What does it mean? It means the ordinary people, the rakyat marhaen or the rakyat jembel will get shortchanged. For ever and ever. 

And what does that mean? It means at the next elections the government will be thrown out - AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN - by the voters who are sick and tired of all this never ending crap.

IN FACT THAT IS THE ONLY GOOD NEWS COMING OUT OF THIS ONE. THE GOVERNMENT WILL CONTINUE TO GET KICKED OUT AGAIN AND AGAIN. 

Now here is my take on RENEWABLE ENERGY in Malaysia.

The industry is FAKE. Allow me to explain. 

As with most other infrastructure sectors (highways, water, electricity, telephones, ports, airports, post, sewerage) renewable energy is one way or another tied to a monopolistic or oligopolistic business environment LICENSED BY THE GOVERNMENT.

Meaning their survival is closely dependent on government policy.
Meaning their survival is closely dependent on who is the government today.

In the case of RNEWABLE ENERGY the industry cannot even exist without government policy.

Meaning market forces (IN MALAYSIA - I will not comment on other countries) may not allow RENEWABLE ENERGY to survive on its own in this country.

My friend who is a senior advisor to the power industry says  the following about the costs of production of solar power in Malaysia:    "Solar power in Malaysia is more expensive (than gas fired) because our solar farms are small, around 5MW to 50MW, no economies of scale. Gas fired IPPs are huge, thousands of MW. Our solar capacity cant even reach 2000MW - poor planning, poor decision making".

We still have access to abundant fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal) and hydro-electric energy (very limited) which are much cheaper than RENEWABLE ENERGY. 

The exception now could be solar energy whose costs of production have decreased substantially in some places like China and the US. 

N'theless there is another huge roadblock. In Malaysia all the electric power that is produced is sold to one buyer ie TNB. Our government licensed monopoly.

What does this mean? It means the independent power producers (including the renewables folks) DO NOT PRICE their product to the market. There is no such thing in Malaysia. They price their product to TNB. 

And TNB is a GLC. GLCs answer to the government of the day - until they are kicked out of power. 

And remember three months ago in January 2023 the Madani gomen raised the electricity tariff by 30 sen per kw/hr for HV and MV consumers. Did they ask your opinion? As  a result the factories, car showrooms, hotels, shopping complexes all have to increase their prices. There was no discount for residential users.

Its just another day in gomen-land.  (Hence that complaint above.)

You and I will get screwed. Then we will throw out the gomen at the next polls.

The really stupid politicians have a never ending DEATH WISH.

They want to get thrown out of office.
