The MACC probe against Human Resources Minister V Sivakumar rubbishes the claim by Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders that the authorities only investigated the opposition for graft, an Amanah leader has said.
According to Amanah Youth chief Hasbie Muda, the ongoing probe against the DAP leader would, in fact, give the current Pakatan Harapan-BN alliance an added advantage in the upcoming state elections as it is proven the government does not practise favouritism.
"This shows that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim gives freedom to the MACC to investigate anyone, including government leaders.
"Thus, claims that the authorities only went after PN are certainly not true because Sivakumar (above) is also a minister from DAP," Hasbie, who is also a senator, was quoted telling Utusan Malaysia.
However, Hasbie hoped that Sivakumar will not have any connection with the probe he is currently facing.
If at all the minister is found linked to the case, then he would better be relieved of his duties, Hasbie added.
The MACC has questioned Sivakumar twice regarding its probe into migrant worker approvals.
Last week, the anti-graft agency arrested three individuals - two of home are senior aides to the minister, as well as a businessperson from Ipoh, Perak.
The trio has since been released after their remand order expired, reported The Star.
Anwar said that there is no need for Sivakumar to go on leave pending a probe into the case as no charges have been pressed against the minister. - Mkini
