KUALA LUMPUR, April 13 — MCA and MIC Negeri Sembilan believe that it is unreasonable if they are not given any seats to contest in the upcoming state election.

Negeri Sembilan MCA chief Siow Koi Voon told Malay daily Sinar Harian that his party remains on the principle that all component parties that joined the unity government should be given the opportunity to contest.

“It is not that we do not want to be open about this issue, but that principle is unsuitable to use and contradicts the spirit of the unity government.

“After all, BN represents all races. It should not be Umno has seats, but MCA does not have seats. Why is MCA betrayed by its own family?” he was quoted as saying.

Siow said he has conveyed his wish to the new Negeri Sembilan Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias in a recent meeting.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan MIC chief Datuk L. Manickam said he will not agree if his party is not given any seats to contest.

“I have no comments on that issue because it will be managed by the MIC leadership.

“But personally, I do not agree if MIC is not given any seats. Each component party should be given space to compete, it cannot be excluded,” he reportedly said.

He said MIC has not yet been invited to discuss the state election with Pakatan Harapan (PH).

Previously, Sinar Harian reported that Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said that the top leadership of PH and BN had agreed that the distribution of the seats in the six states would be done according to the status quo. - malaymail
