Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim claimed that the government led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim would face a major disaster if Najib Abdul Razak was granted a royal pardon and Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's charges were dropped.
Hassan stated that the two high-profile cases will have an impact on the government and that the prime minister needed to be reminded about the matter.
"The political coalition of Pakatan Harapan and PKR will be rejected by the people in the next six state elections.
"Harapan and PKR will be rejected by the people in the next general election.
"In the end, Harapan and PKR will collapse and fall down together with BN and Umno if Najib and Zahid got off so easily.
"If that happens, don't say I didn't remind you," he said in a statement today.
This comes after Zahid sent a letter of representation to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) today to drop the 47 charges of criminal breach of trust, corruption and money laundering involving Yayasan Akalbudi against him.
Najib is currently serving a 12-year jail sentence due to his conviction in the SRC International case. He filed an application for a royal pardon to be released.
On March 31, the Federal Court denied the former prime minister's review application for his conviction.
Commenting further, Hassan said the main reason why the deputy prime minister's case is now being delayed was due to waiting for the AGC's decision on whether Zahid's 47 charges should be dropped or not.
"The development of what happened at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today is very scary and worrying," he said. - Mkini
