In a scene unimaginable six months ago, DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng today joined hands with Umno to do some groundwork and break fast with them.
The event appears to have taken place on Saturday. Lim only posted about it today.
Lim (above, right) and his wife Betty kicked things off by joining the Balik Pulau Umno division to hand out porridge at the Ramadan bazaar next to the Sungai Pinang police station.
He then convoyed with them to break fast at a local eatery.
“Thank you to Shah Headan Ayoob Shah, the division chief, and the entire Balik Pulau Umno family for welcoming us with such special treatment,” he said in a Facebook post.
Shah Headen, when posting about the event on Saturday, said Lim’s presence at the event helped to encourage unity.
Also present at the event was Jelutong MP RSN Rayer.
Photos shared by Lim showed what appeared to be members of Wanita Umno taking a selfie with him.
DAP and Umno were once bitter enemies, with Lim and his father Kit Siang often portrayed as bogeymen out to destroy the Malays.
However, both parties became strange bedfellows after Pakatan Harapan and BN joined hands to form the current coalition government. - Mkini
